One Day Educational & Exposure Tour
to Mumbai for Tribal Youth of Vikramgad, Palghar District, Maharashtra

KAASH Foundation Mumbai, opened doors of education, culture, and global exposure for 150 tribal students of Arts, Commerce and Science College, Onde, Vikramgad, Palghar District, Maharashtra, by organizing a One Day Educational & Exposure Tour, under its Rural and Tribal Community Outreach Program (RTCOP). This tour was conducted in collaboration with the Xavier Institute of Management and Research (XIMR), Mumbai and the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Mumbai, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The day began with students traveling from Palghar to Mumbai by the Flying Ranee Express. Upon arrival at Mumbai Central, they first visited Girgaon Chowpatty, where they experienced the beauty of the seashore. The students then attended the 20th National Workshop on “Inclusiveness” at XIMR. It was guided by the following eminent experts:
1) Prof. Dr. Vaidyanathan K. N., Director, XIMR
2) Dr. (Fr.) Conrad Pesso, Executive Chairman, XIMR
3) Dr. Avkash Jadhav, Program Director and Founder-Trustee, KAASH Foundation
Students then interacted with XIMR’s postgraduate students and received guidance on inclusiveness, leadership, education, and career perspectives. After lunch, students participated in the 21st International Symposium on the theme “Tribal to Global: Connecting Communities and Creating Change”. The conference was held at Sir Cowasji Jehangir Public Hall, NGMA, Mumbai. Distinguished international dignitaries who participated in the Symposium included:
1) Mrs. Dahlia Tawakol, Consul General of Egypt in Mumbai
2) Mrs. Maria Yapur, Deputy Consul General of Argentina in Mumbai
Eminent Indian officials and experts also addressed the students with their inspiring and guidance-oriented speeches:
1) Ms. Nidhi Choudhary (IAS), Director, NGMA
2) Dr. Pravin Mundhe (IPS), DCP, Zone I
3) Mr. Sameer Wankhede (IRS), Customs Department
Later, Dr. Avkash Jadhav, Founder-Trustee, KAASH Foundation, delivered the keynote lecture on “The Prodigious Legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.” The tribal students thereafter performed the Tarpa Dance, which received an enthusiastic response from the dignitaries present. At the end of the day, students visited the Gateway of India, experiencing Mumbai’s rich historical and cultural heritage. The return journey was again by the Flying Ranee Express, with students returning inspired, knowledgeable, and confident.
